UFC 113 Overview

UFC 113 will take place on May 8th, 2010 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event will feature a re-match between Lyoto Machida and Maurico Rua for the UFC Lightweight Championship. The first time the two fighters went at it was during UFC 104. The Welterweight bout will see American Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley, from England. Maurico Rua or “Shogun”, is 18-4 overall, with wins recently over Chuck Liddell and Sam Coleman. He is known best for his Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Josh Koscheck stands at 5’10, and weighs 170lbs. Known for his wrestling and kickboxing style of fighting; he currently stands with a 16-4 career record. His latest bout was a win over Anthony Johnson at UFC 106. He won that bout via rear naked choke. His opponent, Paul Daley was born and raised in Nottingham, England. Part of Team Rough House from Vos Gym, he holds a 23-8 record overall. He has won his last four fights, including a knockout of Dustin Hazelett via knockout at UFC 108.

Sam Stout is a 5’9, 155lbs fighter looking to take the lightweight crown at UFC 113. Stout was born in London, Ontario, and debuted in the USA vs. Canada promotion back in March of 2006. That night he won a split decision over Spencer Fisher. Coming into this fight, Stout has won his last two fights; over Matt Wiman and Joe Lauzon. Stout’s nickname is “Hands of Stone”. Taking on Stout in the fight will be Jeremy Stephens. Stephens is a 23-year-old fighter from Des Moines, Iowa. Known as “Lil Heathen”, he is best known for his Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai and boxing style of fighting. He currently fights out of San Diego, California and holds a 21-5 professional record.

One of the more popular UFC fighters, Kimbo Slice will make just his sixth MMA fight during UFC 113. Slice, born in the Bahamas, attended school at Miami University. Standing at 6’2 and weighing 265lbs, Slice is known best for his boxing style. Matt Mitrione, born in Springfield, Illinois is known as “Meathead”. Currently fighting out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he is best known for his boxing style. This will be just his second career MMA fight.

Patrick Cote will participate in his 19th MMA fight in his career. Cote is coming off a loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 90 back in 2008. Since that time, he has been on rehab for his knee. Cote is known as “thePredator” or “El Presidente” by his peers within MMA fighting. Alan Belcher is a 25-year-old fighter from Jonesboro, Arkansas. Belcher currently fights out of Biloxi, Mississippi and participates in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu bouts. He currently holds a 15-6 record in 21 career fights.
