Two American mixed martial arts fighters will square off on Saturday August 7th, 2010 as part of UFC 117. Live from the Oracle Arena in Sacramento, California Dustin Hazelett will take on Rick Story in a Welterweight bout. This fight is one of five scheduled for the preliminary card of the event.
Dustin Hazelett is a 24 year old born and raised in Kentucky. Known as “McLovin” in reference to the movie Superbad, Hazelett has been training to be a fighter since the age of 16. His career MMA record is 12-5, but is coming off a loss to Paul Daley at UFC 108. Before that loss, Hazelett beat Josh Burkman and Tamdan McCrory and earned submission of the night awards in both fights.
Rick Story, from the state of Washington is a 5’10, 170lbs fighter. Growing up, Story was an excellent athlete, as a baseball player, football player and wrestler. He then went to Pacific Lutheran University and later transferred to Southern Oregon University, where he graduated with a degree in Health Education. He holds a 10-3 MMA record, with 3-1 in UFC bouts. His last three fights have all been wins over Brian Foster, Jesse Lennox and Nick Osipczak. In his win over Brian Foster he garnered the submission of the night award. That fight also ranked as the 7th best fight during the 2009 calendar year for UFC bouts.
