Michihiro Omigawa re-entered the UFC with a ton of hype owing to his big (albeit controversial) wins over Hatsu Hioki and Marlon Sandro. Currently though, he’s on a 1-2 skid in the UFC, with a loss against Chad Mendes that you really can’t hold against him, a very close and controversial decision loss to Darren Elkins, and most recently Omigawa finally scored his first UFC win with a controlling performance over Jason Young.

Yuri Alcantara has only two fights under the Zuffa banner, however he’s impressed in both. In his lone WEC fight, he easily took out Ricardo Lamas (who is now doing very well for himself), and in his UFC debut, he easily controlled Felipe Arantes using his superior wrestling.
I’m a little worried about how confident I feel about this fight, but I really think Alcantara is going to walk through Omigawa. Omigawa’s striking ability has not looked too impressive, and Alcantara will hold huge edges in both the technical ability and power departments. In terms of takedowns, Omigawa can in theory impose his judo for a decision win, however the reality is he’s been very reluctant to do so, and given Alcantara’s last performance, I don’t think Omigawa can effect that gameplan anyways.
The Michihiro Omigawa vs Yuri Alcantara betting prediction is that Alcantara keeps the fight standing, and brutally knocks out Omigawa. He’s ultra aggressive, and while that could cost him, I see it leading to an early stoppage. I wouldn’t bet the house, but at -200 I think it’s worth a small bet for sure.
